Scores Missing as Flood Sweeps Over 300 Houses in Plateau

Scores of residents have been declared missing and over 300 houses destroyed in four local government areas of Plateau State following a flood that resulted from a heavy downpour in the state on Sunday.

The local government areas affected are Jos North, Barkin Ladi , Kanam and Shendam

A source from Kanam said that many persons were still missing as he spoke to our Correspondent Monday. He also said  livestock and farmlands were washed away by the flood, adding that the people of the affected communities are still counting their losses.

Confirming the incident, the executive secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Alhasan Barde, said he was yet to receive accurate figures of the houses destroyed and those killed by the flood.
