The ambience at Villa Medici was constructed to capture the overriding theme of the night. The objective was to launch Cloud 9, Etisalat’s contemporary music platform. For that purpose, the restaurant was transformed into a chic, urbane lounge with a seating arrangement primed to encourage friendship, networking, warmth and conversation.
The choice of premium luxury brand, Hennessy as partner for the event ensured that atmosphere of friendship was well harmonized with choice cocktails made from Hennessey brands accompanied with tasty finger foods.
Organised to provide a continuous flow of entertainment without the service of a master-of-ceremony, the period of interlude between the main performers of the night who were Seyi Shay and Sir Shina Peters was masterfully handled by a fantastic djembe drummer who played to a soundtrack of popular old school songs. eading telecommunications provider, , on Saturday 10th of August 2013 at Villa Medici, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The show brought out a vastly improved Seyi Shay who is beginning to master what it takes to get an audience hooked on to her performance. Without wasting time with preamble, she launched out with the biggest and perhaps the best known song in her repertoire, ‘Irawo’.
Playing with a group of five instrumentalists and two female back-up vocalists, she went on to perform ‘Am Loving Your Way’, ‘No Lele’ and ended her performance with, ‘Killing Me Softly’ which she claims featured Timaya.

Next came the star of the night, Sir Shina Peters. It was another opportunity for Peters to show that he still has a lot of fire in him. Indeed, there is no serious completion in his core area of juju music. He got everyone up on their feet dancing to his continuous flow of hits.
It was not all about music for Shina as he tried a few jokes to ensure audience participation. Fro instance, he offered a reward to anyone who could tell him the meaning of a Yoruba word, ‘ogedete’. After a few wrong attempts, Shina revealed that ‘ogedete’ is a kind of soft rain in Yoruba. He also offered to play any of his songs on request. Of course, the audience took advantage of the offer.
The plan was to have Sir Victor Uwaifo on stage also, but the ‘guitar’ could not make it. Shina, however, teased the audience by striking the tune of ‘Joromi’ on his guitar. At this juncture, he advised upcoming musicians to learn and master, at least, one instrument.
