The third generation All-new Cerato is really making a bold statement. Combining a stylish contemporary exterior and blissful level of comfort with precise engineering and feel-good fuel economy, the compact sedan which is regarded as Kia’s most successful model and the brand’s biggest-selling export model, is still the rave in its segment.
Coming with a chrome-finished beltline, LED front and rear lamps, the third generation Cerato which is longer, lower and wider than the outgoing model, is poised to continue, if not surpass, the winning streak of the model which has achieved more than 2.5 million global sales since its introduction in 2004, including 445,000 units in 2011 when the second-generation model accounted for almost 18 per cent of Kia’s total global sales.
Kia’s Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of the International Business Division, Thomas Oh, actually said during the world premiere of the car: “Cerato has become our brand’s biggest-selling export model, so the introduction of its third-generation is hugely significant for Kia. We are raising our game once again with the all-new Cerato, which adds emotional appeal to its established core values of design, quality and value. This all-new model will boost our competitiveness in the compact car segment – known as the C-segment in many countries – which is one of the world’s most important and closely fought market places.”
The Chief Commercial Officer of Dana Motors Limited, the sole distributors of Kia Motors in Nigeria, Mr. Sandeep Malhotra, is also excited at the introduction of the compact car, which has continued to impress many auto freaks, to Nigeria . Speaking at the media launch of the car in Abuja a couple of months ago, Malhotra said : “Sporting a sleeker profile with futuristic and dynamic styling, the all-new Cerato sedan is longer, lower and wider than the current car and comes, with an extended wheelbase.”
He added that the car “features an all-new re-engineered body shell structure and boasts improved quality, upgraded equipment with a host of additional convenience and safety features,” saying “The Cerato has a more spacious cabin with enhanced quality, improved refinement and an upgraded powertrain line-up that delivers class-leading fuel economy.”
In his presentation , the Marketing Manager, Kia Motors Nigeria , Mr. Kayode Adejumo, said the all-new Cerato is available in Nigeria in the popular 130 ps 1.6-litre Gamma engine. He listed some of the features of the sedan to include projection-style headlamps, power windows, power steering, trip computer, external temperature display, dual airbags, a radio/CD player with 6 speakers, smart key with push start button, 16” alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, high level brake light, upgraded cloth upholstery plus front and rear parking sensors.
Meanwhile, Dana Motors said it has entered into a partnership deal with Stanbic IBTC to launch what it described as the most customer-friendly and easy auto financing scheme.
This new initiative, according to Maholtra, offers Kia lovers the opportunity to sign up and get their brand new Kia models immediately with ease while paying for them in installments over a period of time ranging from one to five years.
“We have partnered with Stanbic IBTC to make it easy and flexible for our customers to get the best right here and now. KIA lovers can now drive out a brand new Kia car paying monthly installment of N39, 600. Our customers are at the core of our company and we aim to do all that is required to keep them satisfied, recognising the various needs constantly competing for our customers’ attention,” he said.
