Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, on Tuesday evening returned to the country after what was believed to be a medical check up in Germany.
Her trip penultimate Monday fuelled fresh speculation over her state of health.
Fears over Mrs. Jonathan’s health spread last year when he was away from the country for weeks.
When the news of her latest foreign trip broke, there were speculation that the deterioration in her health forced her to embark on the trip.
But while an online news medium reported that she was flown abroad in bad shape, a source told The PUNCH that she only travelled for medical check up.
Mrs. Jonathan’s spokesman, Ayo Osilu, confirmed her return on Tuesday.
Unlike her return last year that was accompanied with fanfare, Mrs. Jonathan returned on Tuesday quietly as she left.
A Presidency source told our correspondent that the President’s wife would soon leave Nigeria for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend the First Lady Only Brainstorming Session of the 12th Organisation of African First Ladies Against HIV/AIDS
